Celebrate the vibrant soul of coastal Karnataka with our Rani Bloom Udupi Saree. Handwoven on traditional Malabar Frame looms—a heritage technique introduced to the Dakshina Kannada region nearly 150 years ago by the Basel Mission—this GI-tagged revival textile balances historical mastery with functional, joyful luxury.

The body features a striking rani pink plain weave, beautifully scattered with delicate, small white buti motifs that add a layer of understated charm. The pallu transitions from a warm orange base into rich, multi-colour horizontal stripes of teal-grey, white, and pink, interspersed with larger woven buti motifs. It is finished with artistic hand-cut fringe tassels in matching pink and orange tones.

Woven using premium 60s count cotton yarn for both warp and weft, this handloom saree is feather-light, breathable, and beautifully crisp against the skin. Designed specifically for the Indian tropical climate, it is a versatile choice for professional office wear, casual weekend outings, or staying effortlessly cool on long summer days.

Any Questions?

Every saree carries a story - from the loom to your doorstep. We're here to help you find answers about fabrics, care, sizing, and everything in between.

Is the Shirur (ಶಿರೂರು) an authentic GI-tagged Udupi cotton saree?

Yes. The Shirur (ಶಿರೂರು) carries GI Registration Number 224, confirming its authentic Udupi cotton origin from Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka. It is handwoven on a traditional Malabar Frame loom — a technique introduced to the region roughly 150 years ago — rather than powerloom-made or printed.

What does the Shirur Udupi Cotton Saree look like, and what occasions does it suit?

The Shirur Udupi Cotton Saree features rani pink with an orange border and multicolour pallu. Woven in lightweight, breathable cotton, it works well for office wear, daily draping, and casual outings, and is especially suited to warm, humid weather thanks to the airy Malabar loom weave.

How much does the Shirur Udupi Cotton Saree cost, and does it include a blouse piece?

The Shirur Udupi Cotton Saree is priced at ₹5,699. This saree does not include a blouse piece. It ships with quality-checked packaging, sourced directly from Dakshina Kannada's weaving community.

How do I wash and care for the Shirur Udupi Cotton Saree?

Gentle hand wash in cold water with mild detergent is recommended for the Shirur Udupi Cotton Saree to preserve the weave and colour. Dry in the shade rather than direct sunlight, and light starching after washing can help maintain the fabric's characteristic crispness.

Will the Shirur Udupi Cotton Saree look exactly like the product photos, and is it one of a kind?

Because the Shirur Udupi Cotton Saree is handwoven, slight variations in shade, check alignment, and motif spacing compared to the photos are natural and expected — this is a hallmark of genuine handloom work, not a defect. No two pieces are perfectly identical.
