Celebrate the refined spirit of coastal Karnataka with our Earthy Olive Udupi Saree. A true emblem of textile history, this saree is handwoven on traditional Malabar Frame looms—an artisanal technique introduced to the Dakshina Kannada region nearly 150 years ago. As a GI-tagged revival weave, each thread in this saree honors a craft that master weavers have meticulously preserved for generations.

The body features a warm, burnt-orange plain weave, beautifully scattered with delicate, small white woven buti motifs that offer a quiet, understated elegance. The border is a deep, grounded olive green accented by a thin, striking pink-red pinstripe along the inner edge. The pallu transitions into a sophisticated olive-khaki base, adorned with horizontal white pinstripes and rows of woven motifs, finished with a bottle-green stripe and a vibrant mixed-fringe tassel edge.

Woven from fine 60s count cotton, this saree is feather-light and breathable. Crisp against the skin and airy to the touch, it is the perfect choice for professional office wear, casual outings, or staying cool on hot summer days.

Meet The Muse

Nayana Being daring at heart and working in the financial sector, I have always been ready to step beyond the usual and embrace new experiences.

Yet, my love for the saree remains unchanged—deeply emotional and rooted in tradition. To me, it’s more than just attire; it’s a feeling, a connection to my roots, and a reflection of grace in a modern life.

In those six yards, I find both strength and softness—a timeless piece of who I am.

Any Questions?

Every saree carries a story - from the loom to your doorstep. We're here to help you find answers about fabrics, care, sizing, and everything in between.

Is the Kanakadhara (ಕನಕಧಾರಾ) an authentic GI-tagged Udupi cotton saree?

Yes. The Kanakadhara (ಕನಕಧಾರಾ) carries GI Registration Number 224, confirming its authentic Udupi cotton origin from Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka. It is handwoven on a traditional Malabar Frame loom — a technique introduced to the region roughly 150 years ago — rather than powerloom-made or printed.

What does the Kanakadhara Udupi Cotton Saree look like, and what occasions does it suit?

The Kanakadhara Udupi Cotton Saree features burnt orange body with an olive green border. Woven in lightweight, breathable cotton, it works well for office wear, daily draping, and casual outings, and is especially suited to warm, humid weather thanks to the airy Malabar loom weave.

How much does the Kanakadhara Udupi Cotton Saree cost, and does it include a blouse piece?

The Kanakadhara Udupi Cotton Saree is priced at ₹5,699. This saree does not include a blouse piece. It ships with quality-checked packaging, sourced directly from Dakshina Kannada's weaving community.

How do I wash and care for the Kanakadhara Udupi Cotton Saree?

Gentle hand wash in cold water with mild detergent is recommended for the Kanakadhara Udupi Cotton Saree to preserve the weave and colour. Dry in the shade rather than direct sunlight, and light starching after washing can help maintain the fabric's characteristic crispness.

Will the Kanakadhara Udupi Cotton Saree look exactly like the product photos, and is it one of a kind?

Because the Kanakadhara Udupi Cotton Saree is handwoven, slight variations in shade, check alignment, and motif spacing compared to the photos are natural and expected — this is a hallmark of genuine handloom work, not a defect. No two pieces are perfectly identical.
