Description
Woven on traditional pit looms in Bhujodi village, Kutch, Gujarat, this butter yellow Bhujodi saree speaks in a softer register than its brighter counterparts — but speaks no less beautifully. The body is a warm pastel cotton in plain weave, punctuated by small woven buti motifs in muted multicolour, cross-like and star-shaped, scattered with restrained elegance across the full length.
A slim maroon-brown border runs along the edge — unobtrusive, letting the body breathe. The pallu unfolds in bands of horizontal stripes in blue, grey, olive, rust, and dusty rose, alternating with rows of woven geometric buti clusters in graduated tiers, finishing with a deep charcoal band and fringe tassels in navy, maroon, and gold. The transition from body to pallu is a quiet drama, designed to be noticed gradually.
Bhujodi sarees carry GI protection, recognising the geographic and cultural origin of the Vankar weavers who have practised this craft across generations in Kutch. This saree is made with fine cotton yarn — breathable, feather-light, and designed to move with equal ease between the everyday and the occasion.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Bhujodi saree?
A Bhujodi saree is a handwoven cotton saree from Bhujodi village in Kutch, Gujarat. Made by the Vankar community on traditional pit looms, Bhujodi sarees are GI-tagged for their geographic and cultural origin. Known for distinctive woven borders, colourful pallus, and fine cotton weave that is breathable in India’s warm climate.
How is this different from the True Spring Bhujodi Saree?
Light Spring and True Spring are both yellow Bhujodi sarees, but they are distinct in character. Light Spring uses a softer butter yellow — not sunshine yellow — and a muted pastel palette in the pallu (blue, grey, olive, rust, dusty rose) with a slim maroon-brown border. True Spring is bolder: brighter yellow, a wider rust-orange border, and a more vibrant coral-pink-orange-green pallu. Light Spring is the quieter, more understated of the two.
What blouse colour suits a butter yellow Bhujodi saree?
A sleek black blouse creates a clean, modern contrast that lets the pastel pallu take centre stage — as shown in the product images. A maroon or wine blouse echoes the border subtly. For a softer coordination, dusty rose or olive picks up the pallu’s own colour palette.
Does this saree come with a blouse piece?
No — blouse piece is not included. A black, maroon, or dusty rose blouse is recommended.
How do I wash a Bhujodi cotton saree?
Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not wring or machine wash — gently press out the water and dry flat in shade. Iron on medium heat while slightly damp. The natural cotton and dyes are best preserved with cold, gentle washing.
